The opportunity
This practical trainee role supports rail and metro depots, yards and freight terminals across the DACH region. It focuses on safe vehicle formation and movement preparation.

What you will do
- Support vehicle formation, coupling, uncoupling, braking and securing.
- Operate points or switches after authorisation and training.
- Use radio procedures to coordinate safe movements.
- Inspect equipment, identify defects and report them correctly.
- Work outdoors in a shift-based operational environment.
What you need
- At least 18 years old with upper-secondary education.
- German at B2 level.
- Physical fitness for outdoor work and the ability to pass medical and psychological checks.
- Suitable hearing and vision, including colour and night vision.
- A clean record; a car licence or relevant yard experience is advantageous.
Suitable backgrounds
- Railway or metro yard and shunting-support experience.
- Container, inland-container-depot, port or freight-terminal operations.
- Outdoor roles involving radio communication and coordinated vehicle movements.
